It's been a while since one of us developers opened our mouths and minds to You, dear reader. Yesterday, we announced the release date for the next chapter in MEGATROID, Chapter 2, via Facebook and other channels. Today I am announcing it here along another thing: the MEGATROID Official Soundtrack!

MEGATROID on the OUYA? Quite possibly, yes.

The OUYA Console

Good day, everyone!

I’ll get the most important news out of the way first: MEGATROID launches worldwide on August 1!

Now that you know that, let’s talk about consoles. Specifically, let’s talk about one that doesn’t yet exist on the market, but has the possibility to become a haven of creativity and experimental gameplay: The OUYA.

MEGATROID – Coming soon to an iOS/Android near you

Good day everyone! How are you all enjoying the summer?

It's been quite a while since one of us developers made an appearance here on the blog but it's with good reason. We have been working our asses off to finish MEGATROID. We've had all kinds of issues, both small and big, that have added up to quite a delay in production. More on that in a bit. (more...)

The first Triolith Comic – Tale of the dark unicorn

Hello, friends!

Today we are throwing up the first comic page depicting the lives of us here at Triolith Entertainment, drawn by our Community Manager Anna! We've also added a new button on the menu where we will gather all the comic pages. Pages will be submitted bi-weekly.

So how are we doing over at the office? How's development on MEGATROID? Well, let me tell you, it's hectic. We are putting together all the loose ends, touching up the flaws and getting this behemoth of a project ready to be played by... well, You.

We cannot with certainty reveal any release dates as of yet, but rest assured that the game is under way and close to the finish line.

What I can say is that we've made the decision to release the game with only Chapter 1 (we earlier wanted to include Chapter 2). The decision was made based on the fact that we have time to spare after having Chapter 1 done, but not enough time to finish Chapter 2 in time for the big release. Hence; we chose to focus on getting Chapter 1 not only done, but also a lot more polished than previously planned, rather than including a rushed Chapter 2. Chapter 1 will contain Character Levels 1-10 (estimated roughly 3-4 hours of gameplay).

Bonus! We just got an XPERIA Play in the office, and we've gotten the basic buttons to work! It's amazing!

Back to work! Don't forget to check out the comic!

Development overdrive – a short blog post in the nick of time

*YAWN*

Hello, readers and followers of Triolith Entertainment. Today's blog post is going to be a short one. This is due to us having a poorly maintained (read: non-existent) schedule of blog topics and us working a hectic week filled with extra hours.

Burnout

This is of course being done for a reason: we're racing to finish a MEGATROID Release Candidate for the Android platform. This release will not contain everything we want to include in the game, but will be the next best thing, so to speak. The game will then be released in a limited number of countries and provide valuable real-world data for us, which we will use to improve and balance the game in time for the big release on iOS.

MEGATROID and how it got so big: a development history of sorts

Hello, readers and visitors!

Another Thursday and here I am, writing yet again! Today I would like to talk about the development of MEGATROID, which began almost a year ago, here at Triolith Entertainment.

MEGATROID was under the codename "Proceduraal" for a very long time; a nod to its procedural generation of stages. In the beginning it was all there was to it: our programmer showed up one day with a game where you played a rainbow wearing a fedora. You wrote a text and played a platforming stage. There were turrets, I think, which killed you instantly.

MEGATROID Story – Structure and characters

Hello!

Today's blog post is about the story that we have developed for MEGATROID!

The overarching story of MEGATROID focuses on Hali’s struggle against the Imperium, an all-encompassing galactic federation with automated battle stations spread out across the galaxy. The leader of the Imperium is referred to only as ‘The Emperor’, though not much is known about him at all. The real, physical threats to anyone in the galaxy are the battle stations and the battle droids.

In order to gain more information about the Imperium’s vast network of battle stations, Hali has to gather data from the station cores, the Megatroids.

The story of MEGATROID is not a finished one and will be developed in tandem with the development of the game.

Therefore, MEGATROID employs an episodic structure (called Chapters) that spans 10 character levels.

MEGATROID Web-based Open Beta Test: Conclusion and changes

Hali Posing in Maqwuian Armor SmallHello everyone!

It has been a week since we held the second beta test of MEGATROID and let’s just say it’s been an overwhelming 7 days for us at Triolith Entertainment!

When we launched the beta, we thought we had the game pretty much in the bag already; it was just a matter of confirming our assumptions with another round of testing. What actually happened was the beta showed us that we are actually not finished. It’s getting there, but there are still things that have to be in the game in order to become a fulfilling gaming experience.

So here goes!

MEGATROID Web-based Open Beta Test: Part Two – Progression

Hello readers and visitors!

Last week Magnus and Malte were off to the Casual Connect conference in Hamburg! This week they would elaborate on their impressions of the conference, but they are both still working on their material (and their health, as both got sick!) so it is up to me to entertain you. Challenge accepted!

It just so happens that we have been working a whole lot! So much, in fact, that we are now ready to begin our second beta test of MEGATROID!

The Web-based Open Beta Test (Part Two) will take place in your browser, on this page, triolith.com! We'll post the links and information here and on the public Facebook event on Thursday, February 23! That's next week!

So here's the deal:
